Wildflower Floral Workshop \ 12 -13 August 2026

Join Melbourne-based floral artist Katie Marx who will lead a two-day, hands-on workshop exploring the art of designing with wildflowers. Known for her natural, textural style and creative use of native botanicals, Katie will share techniques for working with form, colour and movement to create expressive arrangements that celebrate the character of wildflowers.

Participants will work with beautiful flowers supplied directly by the growers themselves. Over two days, students will design individual arrangements and collaborate on the design and construction of several large installations that will be used to style the venue for the upcoming Australian Wildflower Conference.

Meet the Growers – A reception will be held at the conclusion of the workshop that coincides with flower growers arriving for the Wildflower Conference. Meet the growers, connect with your industry peers, chat all things flowers and enjoy an evening celebrating wildflowers!

·      Please bring your own floral tools, secateurs, snips, etc.

Please advise if you will be flying to the Sunshine Coast and we will try to source tools so you can bring carry-on luggage only.

Most designs will be used to decorate the venue for the 11 th  Australian Wildflower Conference & Expo. Participants will be able to take home at least one design, subject to any quarantine regulations with your home location.

Spaces in the workshop are limited to 25 to ensure personal instruction and guidance.

Registration fees are non-refundable after Tuesday 4 August.

Katie Marx

Katie Marx has spent 30 years honing her unique floral style and has emerged as one of Australia’s most original, imaginative and contemporary florists. Katie has an unwavering sense of her own style and ethos which she has adhered to through the whims of floral fashion and trends. Her affinity with Australian natives, together with her love of sustainable foraging, has resulted in many breathtaking installations, always demonstrating her masterful use of scale, contrast, repetition and originality.
Katie has a natural teaching ability, enthusiastic and generous with her sharing of knowledge and expertise in floristry. Her love of the natural world, the wild and wonderful array of flowers, especially Australian natives, is always evident in her work. Anyone who has attended one of Katie’s workshops will attest to her passion and joy for sharing her great love of flowers and botanical creations. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her teaching style as unique as her striking creations. Katie Marx has the rare ability to not only instruct technique and method, but also to inspire and elevate, to show the beauty and wonder of Australian natives.
