Final Results and Winners
National Winner - Verity Meager - Gordon TAFE.jpg

The 1st of October was the deadline for all entries from TAFES and professional floristry schools to have their entries in for the National Floristry Design competion. There were 132 entries received from 8 participating colleges in NSW, VIC, WA and SA.

All entries have been uploaded onto the WildFlowers Australia website (see Floristry Competition tab) for viewing. There are also a number of students that were highly commended for their entries, and these have been listed as well.

The winning entries have now been announced and all these details can also be seen. Here is a photo of the National Winner -- by Verity Meager from the Gordon TAFE in Victoria. The National Runner-Up and individual state winners have all been uploaded for viewing by members, students and public.

Based on the last two year's competitions we now have almost 300 photos of floral arrangements using Australian grown wildflowers and foliages, in a wide range of styles. The students participating in the competition have given their approval for the photos to be used for promotional purposes and already many have been used in floral shows in Australia, Korea, China and shortly in Japan.

The competition will be held again in 2010 and will explore what can be done with wildflowers in a wedding bouquet.

WildFlowers Australia is pleased to have Richard Go designing a stand using our Wildflowers for the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Richard is an outstanding designer having achieved international recognition for his flamboyant approach and innovative use of our products. For the WildFlowers Australia stand Richard is following a theme of recovery and emergence of beauty, drawing heavily on the recent devastating events surrounding the Victorian Bushfires. Many thanks to those members who assisted by sending product or offering their services. Photographs of the stand will be posted on the website ASAP.
This is a timely moment for WildFlowers Australia to remember our members and colleagues who were affected by the fires. We offer our thoughts and support during their time of recovery and rebuilding.

The theme this year is "New Life" and all designs must be fitting for presentation to parents of a new child, or suitable as a larger arrangement for a maternity ward, church christening, etc.

Packs with briefing letters, marking schedules, entry forms as well as sponsor information has been sent to each college. If this has not been received all this information is also posted in the Competition section of this website.

The competition deadline is 1 October 2009 and for any questions or further information contact competition@wildflowersaustralia.com.au.

Further -- all entries from 2008 from each of the Colleges -- as well as all 2008 student entries that were winners or highly commended are now uploaded onto the Competition section of this website for viewing by students, teachers, florists and public alike.
