Objectives

VISION

Your new Board has taken suggestions from all current Industry Stakeholders and distilled from them, a vision for the future.

We see a nationally unified WildFlower Industry, led by a Board which is responsive to its membership and the evolving marketplace.

We see a membership base which is enthusiastically committed to improving profitability by providing a world class product. It will do this with outstanding efficiency and reliability,  supporting its Board and investing in the organisational approach to integrated business.

We see a national Industry which will champion Quality, Reliability and Innovation, thus enthusing all its business partners with the same values.

Achieving Broad Representation

The first objective of the new Board offers a package which provides sound business reasons for both large and small producers to to take up membership.

By achieving this aim we will obtain broad representation from growers, and supply chain representatives, across the nation, thus confirming the status of WildFlowers Australia as the true peak body representing the Australian Wildflower Industry.

Improving Profitability

Only through profitability, will there be a sustainable Wildflower Industry. WildFlowers Australia is developing plans already to enhance individual profitability at farm level which will in turn lift investment and profitability across industry.

Current research and commercial wisdom both indicate that the best way to improve the profitability of an Australian Wildflower Grower is through attention to the following issues :
1. Improving the quality of product;

2. Improving promotion and marketing;

3. Developing new products for the market;

4. Obtaining efficiencies in production and delivery of product to the market;

5. Increasing the volume of individual products on the farm to a viable level.

As a Board we will be providing information and strategies for membership to take up and apply to their individual enterprises. This will enable everyone involved to improve their product, gain certified recognition for that result and the Australian Industry to grow in stature both nationally and internationally as a provider of top class product.

Liaising Effectively with Government

 Membership will be grown through individual enterprises as well as associations joining with the Peak Body, WildFlowers Australia. This model promotes the continued development and existence of local grower groups, commodity grower groups and State bodies.

Problem/solution lists will be able to be generated and posted on forum sites on the WildFlowers Australia website, as well as communicated to State representatives who attend Board meetings.

Encouragement of this communication chain will enable WildFlowers Australia to liaise with Government on matters needing a national input, as well as mentoring State organisations to have matters referred back to them where the input is more appropriate for a State Government input.

In addition, where matters of interest for research funding are highlighted, matching of funds by government agencies will be organised by WildFlowers Australia, once the research project has been identified at a grower level. Significant efficiencies will result.

Building Industry Capacity

 The board of WildFlowers Australia will actively recruit and mentor up-and-coming leaders from the ranks of its grower membership. This will ensure continuity of leadership at the Peak Body level.

The Board of  WildFlowers Australia will organise, fund and seek enhancement funding for ongoing education of its members in the areas of soil fertility, pest and disease management, crop processing efficiency, business management and other important areas. Existing resource networks such as FarmBis etc, will be sourced for such projects, due to the anticipated grower base involved.

Projects identified by membership and ratified at Board level as having commercial as well as scientific potential, will be backed  with funding and in-kind donation by the membership, with WildFlowers Australia sourcing enhancement funds from various government and commercial agencies. The expertise developed by  WildFlowers Australia in this arena will enable higher levels of ongoing research into new products, improvement of existing product and efficiencies including processing and freighting.
