IFEX2007
International Flower Exhibition held in Japan
Objective: Increase the demand and value of Australian Wildflowers in the Japanese market
Project Leader: Lodi Pameijer
Funding: Project Participants, Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL), NSW Dept. of Regional Development, Qld Dept. of Primary Industries & Fisheries, Australian Centre for Lifestyle Horticulture, Flower Association of Qld (FAQI).
Approx Budget: AUD45,000
Project Support: Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) staff in Tokyo and Sydney, Queensland Govt. Trade Start staff in Tokyo.
Number of industry participants: 12
Participants benefit:
- Develop an improved understanding of the requirements of the Japanese floriculture market,
- able to personally present and discuss Australian Floriculture lines with visitors,
- meet Japanese supply chain members including importers, wholesalers, florists and other industry professionals.
WFA Member benefit:
- improved awareness of WildFlowers Australia Ltd as an organisation that is committed to bring together people and financial resources and to present a more cohesive image of the Australian Wildflower industry,
Australian Wildflower Industry benefit:
- improved awareness of floriculture products from Ausralia helped to improve demand and prices for many Australian grown lines.

Current Status: Complete.
TAFE Curriculum update
Purpose: To include Australian Wildflowers in elements of the course material provided to floristry students to offer students the opportunity to learn about the value and use of Australian Wildflowers.
Project leader: Lana Mitchell
Approx Budget: $8,800
Funded by: RIRDC, East Coast Wildflowers, Crooby Cottage Wildflowers, Top of the Range Flowers, Grandiflora Growers, Premium Greens and Proteus Gerber Pty Ltd.
Project Status: Complete
National Floristry Training competition
Purpose: To build awareness and appreciation of Australian grown wildflowers among florists in training in a competition setting.
Project Leader: Lana Mitchell
Sponsorships: Flower Association of Queensland FAQI, Lynch Flower, East Coast Wildflowers and Premium Greens.
Project Status: Completed

IFEX 2008
International Flower Exhibition held in Japan
Objective: Increase the demand and value of Australian Wildflowers in the Japanese market.
Events: Conduct Presentation Event, Study Tour, Attend IFEX2008
Project Leader: Lodi Pameijer
Funding: Project Participants, Rural Industries Research and Development Council (RIRDC), Flower Association of Qld (FAQI) as partners in this project, QLD Dept. of Primary Industries & Fisheries.
Approx Budget: AUD70,000
Project Support: Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) staff in Tokyo and Osaka.
Number of industry participants: 12
Participants benefit:
- Develop an improved understanding of the requirements of the Japanese floriculture market,
- able to personally present and discuss Australian Floriculture lines with visitors,
- meet Japanese supply chain members including importers, wholesalers, florists and other industry professionals.
WFA Member benefit:
- improved awareness of WildFlowers Australia Ltd as an organisation that is committed to bring together people and financial resources and to present a more cohesive image of the Australian Wildflower industry,
- A tour by a group of Japanese florists and wholesalers of Australian farms is anticipated to be conducted in 2009.

- improved awareness of floriculture products from Australia helped to improve demand and prices for many Australian grown lines.

Current Status: Incomplete
Farm Productivity and Quality Enhancement Project (FPP)
Purpose: To demonstrate best practice that delivers improved productivity and product quality by enhancing the quality of the soils and building resilience to changes in climate and weather.
Project Mentor: Tim Bailey
Principal Investigator & Project Manager: Audrey Gerber
Funding: Co-funded by industry participants and RIRDC
Status: Contracts ready to be signed by WFA and RIRDC
Approx value: up to $400,000 over 4 years.
