Impressions of the Korean Flower Market

Goyang International flower show~

I have been to Goyang International flower show in April under WFA

We attended the flower markets for inspection and met importers.
Korean wholesalers made a strong impression with their flower display which was extremely beautiful so we were able to check all the flower qualities easily and also there were many varieties of flowers and foliages!
They didn’t have many Australian wild flowers in the flower market so there was a lack of knowledge by the consumer about Australian wild flower.
However, our flower show Australia booth was always busy with people who interested in Australia wild flowers.

We could pursue the possibility of promoting Banksia and Protea and Leucadendron in the future.

Growers and supplies should be aware of the import duty on flowers/foliage imposed by the Korean Government.

Tariff flower 25%
Tariff foliage 8%

The Korean culture enjoy a large plant hobby so plant companies do well.

Korea market is very small so I guess it’s bit hard to work with them.
They also have seasons, just like in Japan so we need to work out how to deal with Korea market but we should challenge to develop the Korean market for our new business.
